Beaks in Cambridge University Zoology Museum |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Large Cactus Finch Beak Based on the Beaks of the 14 Galapagos Finches which were integral to Darwin's Theory of Evolution. Cast in Red Glass proportionately 20 x original size. The 1st set of 14 was on display at the Museum of Zoology in Cambridge during the summer 2009 to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of The Origin of Species and 200 years since the birth of Darwin. Several are on display at Princeton University, U.S.A. in the foyer of the Biology Department. 4 Beaks are also currently on show at Zest Gallery in London. The entire installation spans a width of approx 10 metres. Commissions of singular Beaks are possible with a limited edition of 3. The Beaks can now be displayed on specially made black stands for the table and come with their own bespoke lighting for the best effect. The Beaks have been kiln cast and hand cold-worked, the surface of each Beak has been treated slightly differently with some areas highly polished and other areas left matt for hand-cast appeal. |
